JOB SUMMARY:
In this dynamic, fast paced environment, the Buyer is responsible for providing an uninterrupted flow of materials required by the Production, Maintenance and Research & Development departments. This position acts as a liaison between vendors and FPI personnel, while managing vendor performance and inventory.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate the cost-effective purchasing of materials, supplies and services for various internal departments (ie. Production/Maintenance/R&D;)



as required by requisition and MRP

Manage assigned vendor inventories by considering potential supply shortages and order lead times, ensuring on time delivery, analyzing purchase price variance, and processing defective/rejected parts

Manage assigned vendor performance including freight costs, terms and standard costs

Continually source and develop competent vendors

Negotiate favourable terms for vendor pricing

Create and maintain productive relationships with internal departments

Maintain information of all purchased parts in ERP system (Epicor)

Monitor the integrity of the Epicor Manufacturing system

Act as liaison between vendors and FPI personnel

Maintain professionalism and act in a manner consistent with FPI mission and guiding principles

Follow all Health & Safety programs; actively participate in Health & Safety training with the purpose of gaining knowledge and understanding

Contribute to a positive work environment focusing on Lean and continuous improvement initiatives

Other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIFICATIONS:
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge

Excellent communication skills (written/verbal) in English

Robust organizational skills; able to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Demonstrated attention to detail and problem solving skills

Strong working knowledge of a variety of programs and comfortable with technology, including MS Office Suite and web-based applications

Knowledge of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) processes/concepts

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines





Working knowledge of ERP software is an asset

Familiarity with Engineering/Technical drawings is an asset

Education/Training

High School diploma or equivalent

Certificate in Purchasing, Logistics or Supply Chain; or equivalent

Experience

3-5 years of buying experience preferably in a manufacturing environment

Previous experience with off-shore sourcing and freight importing is an asset

The salary being offered for this position is $60,400-$75,500 per year .
