POSITION SUMMARY: The Transmission & Distribution Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, financial management, and delivery of overhead and underground transmission and distribution construction projects. Reporting to the Director, Power Construction, this role provides leadership throughout the project lifecycle while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements, utility standards, and customer expectations.
Working closely with Construction Managers, General Foremen, Foremen, Project Coordinators, utility representatives, engineers, subcontractors, and clients, the Project Manager oversees all aspects of project execution, including planning, procurement, scheduling, commercial management, customer communication, and project controls. This role is ideal for a proactive leader who enjoys managing complex infrastructure projects while building strong client relationships and delivering operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead transmission and distribution construction projects from award through final turnover
Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and construction strategies
Manage project financial performance, including job costing, forecasting, progress billings, change orders, and cash flow
Review contracts, specifications, drawings, and utility standards to ensure project compliance
Coordinate labour, equipment, subcontractors, procurement, and material deliveries to support project schedules
Manage overhead and underground utility construction activities, including pole line construction, underground cable installation, civil works, utility relocations, and associated infrastructure
Coordinate planned outages, switching schedules, energization activities,



and tie-ins with utility customers and system operators
Monitor project schedules, milestones, risks, and productivity while implementing corrective actions as required
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, utility representatives, consultants, municipalities, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders
Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and customer communications throughout the project lifecycle
Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), change orders, claims, contractual correspondence, and project documentation
Review and approve purchase requisitions, subcontract agreements, and project expenditures
Ensure accurate project reporting within company ERP and project management systems
Monitor subcontractor performance, quality, productivity, and contractual compliance
Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation, utility standards, environmental regulations, and company policies
Support quality assurance, inspections, testing, commissioning, and project turnover documentation
Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to Project Coordinators, Construction Managers, Site Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen, and field personnel
Foster collaboration between office and field teams while driving accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence
Prepare executive project updates, financial reports, and customer progress reports
Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to support successful project delivery
Travel to project sites throughout Ontario as required
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
CANDIDATE PROFILE: Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience within transmission and distribution construction, utility infrastructure, or electrical EPC environments




Demonstrated experience managing overhead and underground transmission and distribution projects
Robust understanding of utility construction methods, including overhead lines, underground cable systems, civil works, foundations, conductor installation, and utility relocations
Experience coordinating planned outages, switching schedules, energization activities, and utility operating authorities
Strong knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, contracts, project controls, and commercial management
Proven ability to manage multiple projects while balancing safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance
Experience leading cross-functional teams, subcontractors, and field operations
Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Strong financial and commercial acumen with the ability to identify project risks and opportunities
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline is considered an asset
PMP designation is considered an asset
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, ERP systems, or project management software is considered an asset
Valid Class G Driver's Licence with the ability to travel throughout Ontario
