NWI Precision specializes in high-precision machining of helicopter masts, turbine shafts, engine thrust links, and nuclear pressure vessel components for the aerospace and nuclear industries worldwide. Operating from a 120,000 sq. ft. facility at 9 Fenmar Drive in Toronto, our dedicated team is committed to delivering the highest quality products to specifications and on time. We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist .
The HR Generalist will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our people data while driving a pivotal transformation in our HR technology landscape. This role splits focus between flawless day-to-day HR Operation and ensuring 100% accurate and timely data entry across multiple systems while serving as a key contributor to our upcoming HRIS migration from Dayforce to Workday.
The ideal candidate is a meticulous data guardian, a savvy HRIS user, a collaborative operational partner, and an HR compliance champion who can document and streamline processes, update policies, assist in the revision of the employee handbook, and ensure adherence to AS9100 and Controlled Goods standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. HRIS Data Integrity & Maintenance Manage, update, and audit employee lifecycle data across all internal systems, including Dayforce, Workday, and SyteLine.
Enforce a strict standard of 100% accuracy and timeliness for all data entry, including new hires, terminations, promotions, lateral moves, compensation adjustments, and supervisor changes.
Conduct routine data audits and cross-system reconciliations to ensure SyteLine, Dayforce, and active directories are perfectly aligned.
Troubleshoot data discrepancies and system errors, collaborating with IT or external vendors to resolve technical glitches promptly.
2. HRIS Transition Project (Dayforce to Workday) Act as a core subject matter expert and hands-on resource for the Dayforce-to-Workday migration project.
Assist with data mapping, data cleansing, and validation exercises to ensure historical and current data migrates to Workday seamlessly.
Participate in Workday configuration, testing phases (UAT), and system validation to ensure the new setting aligns with company policies and compliance standards.
Help create user guides and deliver training to employees and managers on how to navigate the new Workday platform post-launch.
3. HR Operations, Policies & Compliance Document, outline, and maintain HR processes and procedures to ensure clarity and operational consistency.
Assist in updating company policies and contribute to the creation and maintenance of the employee handbook.
Ensure HR practices comply with AS9100 standards and Controlled Goods regulations.
Support the administrative onboarding and offboarding processes.
Draft, issue,
and track employment letters and related legal documents with high attention to legal and company formatting standards.
Manage and maintain all digital and physical HR documents, personnel files, and records in strict accordance with company standards to ensure 100% audit readiness and compliance with local labor laws.
Actively participate in HR process continuous improvement initiatives, identifying operational bottlenecks and recommending workflow enhancements.
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR system access, policies, and operational requests.
Assist the other HR team members and Director of Human Resources with annual initiatives such as company events, training and the performance review process and merit cycles, ensuring timely and accurate implementation.
4. Recruitment Support Review and screen resumes for hourly positions to identify qualified candidates.
Conduct initial phone screening interviews for hourly roles such as production, QC, warehouse, and machinist positions.
Assess candidates’ qualifications, communication skills, availability, and overall fit for the role.
Coordinate and schedule interviews with hiring managers.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records and recruitment activities in the ATS (Applicant Tracking System).
Initiate and monitor background checks, reference checks, and other pre-employment requirements.
Support job postings and recruitment activities through platforms such as Indeed and other hiring tools.
Follow up with candidates regarding interview feedback, hiring status, and onboarding documentation.
Assist with preparing offer and onboarding packages for new hires.
Complete additional projects and responsibilities as required.
EXPECTATIONS: Be punctual and prepared to begin work at the scheduled start time every day.
Plan vacation, personal time, and absences responsibly in accordance with company policy and operational needs.
Assist with maintaining 100% accuracy and data integrity across all HRIS platforms (Dayforce, Workday, and SyteLine).
Support the on-time data migration, mapping, and testing completion for the Dayforce-to-Workday HRIS transition project.
Assist with maintaining 100% compliance and audit readiness for all HR documentation, personnel files, and employment letters in accordance with company standards.
Adhere to established SLAs and turnaround times for data entry and document distribution, especially regarding payroll cut-offs.
Propose and implement at least one HR operations process improvement or automation initiative per year.
KEY COMPETENCIES: Uncompromising Accuracy: An obsessive attention to detail; a track record of handling high-volume data entry with zero defects.
Time Management: Ability to meet strict processing deadlines (e.g., payroll cut-offs) in a fast-paced environment.
Confidentiality: Absolute discretion when handling sensitive compensation, personal, and medical data.
Communication: Solid written and verbal communication skills for drafting formal employment letters, documenting processes, updating policies, and guiding users through system changes.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:
3–5 years of dedicated experience in HR Operations, HR Coordination, or as an HRIS Analyst.
Hands-on experience with both Dayforce and Workday is highly preferred.
Experience utilizing or maintaining HR data within an ERP system like SyteLine is a strong asset.
Demonstrated experience participating in an HRIS implementation or system migration project.
Experience with HR policy updates, employee handbook development, and compliance with regulated standards (AS9100, Controlled Goods).
Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, data cleaning formulas) to manage large data sets during migrations.
