The Tlicho Community Services Agency (TCSA) is seeking a Mental Health and Addictions Counsellor to join the Primary Community Care Team in Behchoko.
Working with healthcare professionals, community organizations, Elders, and traditional supports, you will provide assessment, counselling, crisis intervention, case management, referrals, and community education. You will help clients of all ages access the services they need while promoting recovery, prevention, and mental wellness.

Key Responsibilities Provide mental health, addictions, and family violence counselling to children, youth, adults, Elders, couples, and families.
Complete client intake, assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and ongoing case management.
Support clients through recovery, aftercare, and referrals to specialized or community-based services.
Work collaboratively with healthcare providers, schools, social services, RCMP, Elders, and community partners.
Deliver community education, prevention initiatives, and wellness presentations.




Maintain accurate documentation and ensure services meet professional, legislative, and program standards.
Key Qualifications Knowledge of therapeutic counselling approaches, mental health, addictions, family violence, and trauma-informed care.
Experience conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and responding to clients in crisis.
Ability to work respectfully in a cross-cultural environment and build strong relationships with clients, families, and community partners.
Strong communication, organization, and case management skills.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and maintain professional ethics.
Eligibility for registration with an appropriate Canadian professional regulatory body.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A master's level degree in Counselling, Psychology or Clinical Social Work or a related discipline with a focus on therapeutic counselling with one (1) year of relevant therapeutic counselling experience in a scope of practice or experience in addictions, mental health, and family violence.
The experience of the Mental Health and Addiction Counsellor should include clinically supervised education or work experience (therapeutic counselling experience under a qualified clinical counselling supervisor) that includes at least 500 hours, where at least 120 of these hours are direct client contact.
