YHU Terminal is hiring a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join its maintenance team, responsible for maintaining airport equipment. The successful candidate will perform maintenance, repairs, and refueling on various diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Preventive and corrective maintenance of ground support equipment to avoid potential breakdowns and optimize equipment performance.
Diagnostics and repair of Diesel engines (Kohler, Cummins, CAT, Detroit Diesel or similar), hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems, and transmissions.
Perform load tests on batteries, alternators, and starters.
Minimize equipment downtime to meet operational needs.
Apply procedures from service manuals, technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
Perform welding and replace defective parts.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs using the EAM system.
Adhere to safety procedures and participate in safety audits.
Collaborate closely with the team to optimize maintenance processes and propose continuous improvement solutions.
Qualifications:
CPA mechanic card or Red Seal certification.
Valid driver’s license (Class 5).
5 years of practical experience in diesel engine and hydraulic system maintenance.
Robust interest in learning new skills and sharing expertise.
Must obtain security clearances.
Ability to work while standing, bending, kneeling, and at heights.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions:
Full-time, onsite position.
South Shore of Montreal (Longueuil).
Starting salary of $35/hour.
Work in both indoor workshops and outdoor environments under changing weather conditions.
Variable schedule, day and night shifts.
Availability for one weekend every two weeks.
Availability for emergency responses.
