OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resource, the Human Resource Generalist will be responsible for providing guidance on HR policies, employee relations, performance management, and workplace issues while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary contact for handling employee inquiries and workplace concerns while maintaining accurate documentation.
Investigate employee complaints, grievances and workplace conflicts in a fair, timely and confidential manner.
Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
Support managers in Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
Monitor and ensure employee performance reviews are scheduled and in compliance with organization policies and guidelines.
Coordinate organizations performance review process with supervisors.
Guide employees with performance review process and career development.
Create employee job descriptions and job postings.
Stay up to date with current recruiting methods.
Must have extensive knowledge of recruitment strategies and assist with all aspects of recruitment including offboarding when needed.
Promote employee engagement and retention initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of post-secondary education with a focus in Human Resources Management or a related discipline is required.
2-3 years related experience.
Skilled in conflict resolution and respectful communication.
Familiar with HR databases, applicant tracking systems and candidate management systems.
Knowledge of Employment Standards, Labour Law, Workplace Safety and Health and Human Rights.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high attention to detail.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, word processing (MS Word), Spreadsheets (Excel), E-mail (Outlook) and Internet.
Knowledge of the Child and Family Services (CFS) sector and legislation an asset but not mandatory.
Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies.
Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle and acceptable Driver’s Abstract are a condition of employment.
Must have clear Criminal Record (vulnerable Sector Check), Child and Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Prior contact Check.
