Alberta

Apply applicable electrical codes, regulations, industry standards, and company procedures in all design activities.
Perform electrical engineering calculations, analyses, and prepare engineering design deliverables.
Participate in engineering work planning, scheduling, and estimating activities to support project execution.
Identify and resolve technical electrical design issues while effectively communicating with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders.
Support procurement activities by preparing material requisitions, reviewing vendor quotations, participating in bid evaluations, and assisting with equipment selection.
Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout all project phases.
Perform power system studies using ETAP or SKM software.
Develop protective relay calculations and coordinate relay settings.
Complete electrical engineering calculations, including demand load analysis, equipment sizing, voltage drop, motor starting studies, neutral grounding resistor (NGR) sizing, and power factor correction.
Electrical equipment layouts
Medium- and low-voltage motor control schematics
Cable tray layouts and schedules
Prepare Area Classification Drawings in accordance with applicable industry standards.
Interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;) and mechanical equipment load lists to develop electrical design packages.
Produce all electrical engineering deliverables associated with Electric Heat Tracing systems.
Review vendor drawings and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Prepare Material Take-Off (MTO) estimates to support procurement and project execution.




Report project progress and technical issues to the Electrical Lead or Overall Project Lead.

Electrical equipment layouts

Qualifications Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from a recognized two-year post-secondary program, or completion of a related three- to four-year apprenticeship program.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electrical Designer within the oil and gas industry.
Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, equipment modelling, and industry-standard electrical design software.
Experience developing electrical design packages for industrial or oil and gas facilities.
Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make routine technical decisions within established project requirements.
Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required to support engineering, construction, and commissioning activities.
