Join a dynamic engineering team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC), supporting major industrial and energy projects across Western Canada. This role offers the opportunity to lead HVAC engineering execution, develop innovative and compliant system designs, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on projects spanning oil & gas, energy transition, mining, chemicals, and heavy industrial sectors.
Total rewards: $75.00 - $85.00 hourly
Work on high-profile industrial and energy projects across diverse sectorsLead complex HVAC engineering scopes with significant technical ownershipContribute to energy transition initiatives including hydrogen and carbon capture projectsCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teamsEngage in field visits, commissioning support, and site-based engineering activitiesDevelop leadership capabilities through technical mentorship responsibilities
A typical day:Prepare and review HVAC design criteria, specifications, data sheets, and technical deliverablesPerform HVAC calculations including load studies, ventilation analysis,



and equipment sizingDevelop and review HVAC layouts, equipment arrangements, and system routingCoordinate HVAC scope with project, procurement, construction, and commissioning teamsInterface with vendors to review documentation and resolve technical queriesConduct site visits to support field engineering, constructability reviews, and commissioningMaintain compliance with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and project requirementsProvide technical leadership, mentorship, and support as HVAC Package Lead or Discipline Lead
Successful candidates will have:Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical EngineeringMaintain P.Eng. registration with APEGA or demonstrate eligibility for registrationDemonstrate senior-level HVAC engineering experience within industrial facilitiesApply solid expertise in air handling, ventilation, pressurization, exhaust, and packaged HVAC systemsPossess knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, CSA, SMACNA, and relevant building codesCommunicate effectively with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teamsUtilise HVAC design and calculation software such as HAP, Trace, Elite, or equivalentBring experience in oil & gas, mining, chemicals, heavy industrial, or energy transition projects
