Overview AtkinsRéalis Ports & Marine team in Canada is looking for a Senior Marine Structural Engineer (Principal) – Ports and Marine to join their growing team. This position reports to the Ports & Marine Team Lead – Western Canada. As a Senior Engineer, your primary role will be to manage and deliver marine infrastructure projects for our clients. Our teams make a real difference to communities and markets by connecting waterways and sea safely and efficiently. You’ll gain expertise in all aspects of this sector, from waterfront development to foreshore rehabilitation, terminals and facilities to asset management and assessments.Location This role will be based anywhere in Canada, preferably in British Columbia, Ontario, or the Maritimes.Your RoleLiaise with Clients on existing projects and pursue current project opportunities.Provide leadership and direction to Junior Engineers and/or Technicians and maintain good working relationships with internal project support groups.Work collaboratively to assist other project team members and incorporate input from other parts of the business on multi-disciplinary projects.Analyze and design marine structures including concrete caisson wharves, open berth structures, berthing and mooring dolphins, access trestles, jetties, sheet pile bulkhead wharves, walls and wood crib wharves.Prepare technical specifications and tender documents for ports and marine work packages.Develop conceptual options, preliminary designs,



engineering sketches to support feasibility studies and condition assessment and load rating analysis of existing structures.Coordinate drawing development with other technical staff and complete drawing reviews; prepare written deliverables such as reports and technical notes.Review project documentation for clarity, accuracy, consistency in presentation, and compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.Manage project scope, schedule, finances, and undertake site inspections for existing structures and current construction projects.About YouHolds a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.Is registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC; registration in any other Canadian province is an asset, and PE licensure in the United States is highly desirable.Has a minimum of 15 years’ experience in the design of marine infrastructure.Is familiar with marine design codes, standards, and structural‑analysis software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000 or similar.Has a functional understanding of typical marine design considerations for steel and concrete structures, soil‑structure interaction, and marine environmental loading.Fluent in English with excellent written and oral communication.Compensation Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $114,800 – $157,900 annually.
