Duties
As a CT-FIN-01 Financial officer, you would be responsible for providing guidance and service related to the financial activities of an organization at DND. Your knowledge of accounting principles, reporting, and auditing financial matters and budget planning/ monitoring will make you a valued member of a busy team.

An immediate need for a permanent, unilingual English financial officer exists in Trenton, Ontario. Needs in other locations listed above are anticipatory. A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence. The appointed candidate must meet all essential qualifications and conditions of employment and be administered the Oath before being appointed to the position. Administration of the Oath concerns individuals appointed from outside the public service.

Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program, from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce, or economics.*At DND, specialization at the CT-FIN-01 level is defined as the successful completion of four (4) college or university level accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics courses. Notes: Education: It is the educational institution that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution. Specialization: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and taken in a recognized post-secondary institution but not necessarily within a post-secondary program in the required specialization. Acquired Rights: Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CT group on September 28, 2023, who do not possess the minimum qualifications prescribed above, remain entitled to their previously designated acquired rights: August 1, 2004, Conversion: Incumbents of FI-01 positions* are deemed to meet the qualification standard for the CT-FIN-01 level, based on their education, training and/or experience. Incumbents of FI-02 or higher positions* are deemed to meet the qualification standard for those levels, based on their education, training and/or experience. * Includes positions equivalent in group and level definition, at Indian Oil and Gas Canada and the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions. June 23, 1987, Conversion: Incumbents of FI positions are deemed to meet the CT-FIN qualification standard at their last FI position level, based on their education, training and/or experience. Experience using a financial system for financial processing, reporting, or analysis (e.g., DRMIS [Defence Resource Management Information System], SAP, Oracle).
