We are currently seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Human Resources Student to support our HR team and gain hands‑on experience in a rapid‑paced transportation environment.
About the Role
The Human Resources Student will assist with day‑to‑day HR operations and administrative support. This role provides exposure to recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, health & safety support, and HR compliance within a safety‑sensitive and operationally driven industry.
We are looking for a part‑time HR student who is currently enrolled in a Human Resources or Business‑related program and will be returning to their studies for the winter semester, in alignment with Trucking HR Canada subsidy requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Screening resumes and shortlisting candidates
- Conducting initial phone interviews
- Completing reference checks
- Supporting recruitment coordination, including interviews, road tests, and training with Operations and Safety
- Assisting with general HR administration and clerical tasks
- Supporting new hire onboarding and orientation for drivers and office staff
- Maintaining and updating employee files
- Assisting with data entry, reporting, and HR metrics
- Supporting health & safety initiatives, training coordination, and compliance documentation
- Responding to basic employee inquiries and redirecting as appropriate
- Assisting with HR projects, policy updates, and process improvements
- Performing general administrative duties as required
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Human Resources, Business Administration, or related post‑secondary program
- Returning to studies for the Winter 2027 semester
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills with excellent attention to detail
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Interest in HR within transportation, logistics, or safety‑sensitive industries is an asset
Compensation
- $19-21/hour based on experience
- Part‑time schedule
