The Position: We’re on the hunt for a Junior Software Engineer/MTS (Member of Technical Staff) on our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.
With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true.
As a Junior Software Engineer/MTS, you would be part of a highly talented team to design, implement, maintain, and test safety critical, software solutions. You will have the opportunity to learn from highly experienced Software Engineers to develop modular, efficient,
and robust Software that are/will be part of our robotics solutions for space applications.
Responsibilities: Under the direction of a senior engineer, implement software to satisfy design/requirements.
Create and execute unit tests ensuring proper coverage.
Ensure code meets our internal coding standards.
Document the design, code, and tests.
Participate in peer code reviews.
Participate in review meetings with customer. (maybe for Intermediate)
Support hardware/software integration tests.
Participate in field trials and demos as needed.
Other duties as will be assigned from time to time by management or a team lead.
Requirements: Required Skills/Experience Solid programming knowledge in on or more of the following languages: C/C++, python, C#, Java, Rust or another Object‑Oriented language.
Software Configuration Management tools (preferably Git)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
0-2 years of relevant experience
Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and a positive thinker
Strong written/verbal communication skills
Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
Beneficial Skills/Experience Processor and memory architectures
Communications interfaces (SPI, EtherCAT, CANOpen, TTE, etc.)
Unit testing
Working with robotics
Strong academic record
Comments/Special Considerations: Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
