The base salary will be $62,480 - $89,040 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

Please note, this position is an 18-month temporary full-time contract opportunity covering a leave of absence.

About Us
The mission of the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is to foster and enhance best practices in teaching and learning at Western University. To achieve its mission, the Centre utilizes an evidence-based approach to create and deliver programs that support the teaching and learning activities of faculty members, librarians and archivists, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and graduate teaching assistants.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning, the Program Coordinator (TA Programs) will coordinate the planning, organization and delivery of workshops, conferences, courses and other programs for teaching assistants, international teaching assistants and instructors at the Centre for Teaching and Learning. The Program Coordinator is the first point of contact for faculty, staff, and graduate students at the CTL and will ensure they have the required guidance, documentation, space, supplies, equipment and resources appropriate to their role and engagement within the unit.



The Program Coordinator will be responsible for organizing and managing events related to the programs and will assist with the development of communications and marketing materials and graphics aimed at enhancing the reputation and awareness of the programs. The Program Coordinator will also provide support to the Director and Associate Directors in the planning and facilitation of teaching and learning initiatives.

Qualifications
Education:

Undergraduate Degree in Education, Communications or a relevant discipline

Experience:

3 years of experience in providing administrative support and coordination

Experience in a higher education institution; experience with academic policies and procedures preferred

Experience planning and managing events of various sizes; familiarity with large-scale events an asset

Experience managing and communicating through social media platforms preferred

Experience with web design, graphic design and production preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proven ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience

Ability to plan and manage events of various sizes; familiarity with large scale events an asset

Ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work

Capacity to support and demonstrate openness to persons of diverse backgrounds and beliefs

Capacity to consider issues from the perspective of others

Ability to understand customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service to directly and indirectly satisfy expectations

Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data, while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive

Exceptional organizational skills including effectively managing multiple competing priorities in an interruptive environment





Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards

Discretion, tact and maturity to deal with highly confidential subjects or issues

Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment

Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events and activities

Ability to listen, inform, explain, and advise individuals on academic processes and regulations

Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, some experience with graphics software preferred (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)

Interpersonal skills to liaise with prospective and current students, staff, faculty and other members of the Western community

Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner

Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals

Communication skills to write clearly, prepare reports and adapt communication style and content for intended audiences in a professional manner

Strong proofreading abilities with an excellent command of the English language
