About us SCINTIL Photonics is a fabless company developing and commercializing silicon photonics with integrated lasers for the AI datacenters. Based on SCINTIL Heterogeneous Integrated Photonics (SHIP™) technology, we enable low-latency, high-density and power-efficient ultra-high-speed optical interconnects. SCINTIL is an international company headquartered in France, with offices in Canada and the United States.
Position overview Department: R&D;
We are seeking a Silicon Photonic Component Designer with 5 years of experience to join our growing photonics design team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing and simulating photonic devices, hands-on experience with commercial foundry tapeouts, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Key responsibilities Design and optimize silicon photonic components such as waveguides, modulators, couplers, filters, and detectors.
Perform electromagnetic simulations using Lumerical tools (FDTD, EME) or equivalent software.
Develop layouts using KLayout or equivalent IC layout tools, ensuring compliance with PDK and DRC rules.
Participate in full design flow, from concept to fabrication, including multiple tapeouts in commercial foundries.
Collaborate closely with process, test and packaging teams to ensure robust device performance.
Analyze and interpret measurement data from the test team to validate designs and drive iterative improvements.
Troubleshoot design issues and propose effective solutions to meet performance and yield targets.
Document designs, simulations, and test results clearly and professionally.
Comply with internal Quality requirements, follow procedures,
and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Quality system (non-conformities, risks, corrective actions, action plans, etc.).
Qualifications PhD in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in silicon photonics design.
Proven experience with:
Lumerical (FDTD, EME) or equivalent simulation tools
KLayout or similar layout tools
Demonstrated track record of multiple tapeouts in commercial CMOS/silicon photonics foundries.
Solid understanding of:
Photonic device physics
Optical wave propagation and coupling mechanisms
Fabrication constraints and variability
Skills & Competencies Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work effectively as a team player in a cross-functional environment.
Experience interpreting and leveraging experimental test data for design improvement.
