Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced heavy marine construction deckhand to join our waterborne project crew. You will operate aboard barges, derrick barges, and crane vessels supporting pile driving, structural installation, and marine infrastructure operations. This role demands hands-on rigging expertise, sharp situational communication, and proven comfort working in demanding open-water environments.
Duties
- -Assist in rigging and derigging loads, including steel pipe piles, sheet piles, and structural members using slings, shackles, and tag lines.
- Signal crane operators and equipment operators during lifts, following established hand signal and radio communication protocols
- Support pile driving operations, guiding piles into leads, monitoring set rates, and maintaining deck organization during hammer runs
- Operate and maintain deck machinery including winches, capstans, and mooring equipment
- Monitor and maintain barge stability, trim, and draft during material loading and placement operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the deck area.
- Clear coordination/communication with crew members to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of verified experience in heavy marine or waterfront construction (pile driving projects strongly preferred)
- Robust mechanical knowledge or aptitude is a plus
- Demonstrated rigging competency: wire rope, synthetic slings, chain assemblies, multi-point picks, and load control
- Project sites may involve offshore, coastal, or confined waterway conditions; candidates must be comfortable working in adverse weather
- Physical ability to perform sustained manual labor in marine environments, including lifting, climbing, and working at heights over water
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Valid maritime or boating certifications are advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to obtain necessary certifications is expected

Pay: $26.00-$40.00 per hour
