We are seeking an experienced wellness practitioner to teach our 325-hour Holistic Spa and Wellness Certificate program in Kelowna. In this part-time role, you will bring real-world insight into the classroom while helping emerging professionals build practical skills, sound habits, and confidence.
The Prospect
This is a part-time position with a minimum of 25 hours per week. You will guide adult learners through practical spa and bodywork skills while helping them build the professional standards, safety awareness, communication skills, and business foundations needed for work in the wellness industry.
Preparation time and other academic duties will be discussed as part of the role arrangement.
What you will teach
- Introduction to spa practice and professional, ethical, client-centred care
- Musculoskeletal anatomy, kinesiology, anatomy, physiology, and common pathologies
- Relaxation and foundational massage theory and techniques
- Sport massage in a spa setting
- Introduction to reflexology
- Hot stone massage and hydrotherapy
- Shiatsu and aromatherapy
- Hygiene, infection control, draping, consent, boundaries, and risk-aware treatment selection
- Spa business management
- Supervised spa clinical practice in the school clinic environment
What you will do
- Deliver clear,
engaging classroom and practical instruction aligned with the approved curriculum and learning outcomes
- Demonstrate techniques safely and coach students through repeated hands-on practice
- Create or adapt learning activities, demonstrations, review materials, and assessments
- Evaluate student learning through written work, presentations, practical demonstrations, and skills assessments
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and one-on-one support to adult learners
- Maintain accurate attendance, grade, assessment, and student-progress records
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, hygienic, and professionally grounded learning environment
- Support students during on-site clinical practice and reinforce client safety, privacy, consent, and professional boundaries
- Collaborate with academic and administrative colleagues on program quality and student success
Minimum qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following qualification routes:
Route 1 - Credential and experience: A relevant post-secondary credential in massage, spa therapy, holistic wellness, natural health, or a closely related field, plus at least two years of recent, relevant occupational experience.
Route 2 - Extensive occupational experience: At least ten years of full-time,
relevant occupational experience demonstrating practical knowledge, professional responsibility, and competence.
The successful candidate must also be able to teach and demonstrate the assigned subject matter safely, accurately, and within their professional competence.
Robust assets
- Experience teaching, training, precepting, mentoring, or orienting others
- Education or professional development in adult learning, assessment, or instructional design
- Experience across several program areas, such as massage, reflexology, hot stone therapy, hydrotherapy, anatomy, or spa operations
- Experience supervising practical or clinical learning
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with applications such as Word and Outlook, and comfort using a learning management system and student information system
- Strong organization, communication, documentation, and student-support skills
Compensation and schedule
The hourly range is CA$24.00-CA$32.00, based on qualifications and relevant experience. The position is part-time with a minimum of 25 hours per week. Preparation time and related academic duties will be discussed with the successful candidate.
