Job Summary

Burokas Law is seeking a driven independent Paralegal to join a rapidly growing niche practice. Burokas Law specializes in professional regulation. We offer advisory and defence services to regulated professionals and businesses in respect to their regulators.

You will both act independently on your own defence files and support the firm's principal by managing legal documentation, conducting research, and ensuring the smooth operation of legal processes. Duties

- Independently manage own files at Small Claims Court, Provincial Offences Court, and Licence Appeal Tribunal matters, including making necessary virtual court/hearing appearances.
- Independently manage client applications to various regulators
- Assist principal with legal research
- Prepare, review, and proofread litigation documents including pleadings and disclosure
- Support project management efforts by tracking deadlines, scheduling meetings, and coordinating document submissions
- Conduct interviews with clients or witnesses as directed,



documenting information accurately for case preparation
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and discovery requests
- Perform administrative tasks as necessary

The successful candidate should ideally have the following skills and experience:

- P1 paralegal licence in positive standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Experience in Small Claims Court drafting pleadings, conducting motions, settlement conferences, and trials.
- The ability to draft routine litigation documents such as pleadings, affidavits, motions, orders, appeals, etc.
- Experience at the Licence Appeal Tribunal (preferred ) or other administrative tribunals
- Experience defending or prosecuting criminal or provincial offences matters
- Experience before discipline committees of professional regulators.
- Experience submitting applications for membership/licensure to professional regulators

Pay: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
