Position: TECHNICAL MANAGER

This position is ideal for a self-motivated professional engineer who knows how to build lasting relationships, and who understands that successful sales are equal parts technical astuteness and interpersonal skills.
S.C. Delong Sales Inc. is recruiting a Technical Manager. This position supports the Sales Department. The successful candidate is responsible for assessing, identifying, and securing new business. The incumbent will provide technical assistance at all steps; from the point of assessing and responding to the RFP to the project commissioning debriefing end meeting. The incumbent will also build solid relationships with engineers, architects, and professional firms for the purpose of branding and project cooperation. The challenge of this position is sourcing business that “fits” SCD and its business vision.
Desired Experience:
- MUST be a graduate of power engineer (stationary engineer), mechanical engineering, or mechanical engineering technologist program.
- MUST have steam and hydronics experience.
- MUST have experience in client-facing roles.
- MUST have experience developing and facilitating technical presentations.
- SHOULD have experience in outside technical / industrial sales.
- MUST have technical know-how in fluid mechanics, reservoirs, pumps (gear, vane, piston), control valves, actuators (cylinders/motors), and hydraulic fluid boiler operations and stationary engineering.
Desired Qualifications:
- Be proficient in MS Office and Power Point as well as PDF Editor.
- Have experience writing Proposals.
- Hydronics certification (e.g. Hydronics Installers and Designers,
ASSE International 19000 Series, HYDRO19119/19210, Hydronic Technician Associate, etc.) would be an asset but is not required.
- PEng designation would be an asset but is not required.
- Have an understanding of the sales cycle.
- Have outstanding communication, active listening, and influencing skills.
- Be self-motivated, independent, and a quick learner.
- Be detail-oriented and have solid problem-solving and analytical skills.
