POSITION DUTIES:
The Emergency Facilities Technician maintains compliance with applicable corporate/department procedures, applicable standards and legislation.

Troubleshoots various problems and issues within building and emergency apparatus systems and accurately diagnoses electrical, mechanical and building system problems.
Monitors and operates all computerized Building Automation Systems (BAS); troubleshoots, recommends and initiates corrective actions
Ability to support day-to-day operations through the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Interprets and reviews for application and understanding of system schematics and building plans.
Recommends and arranges for maintenance services as required.
Oversees the efficient completion of all assigned work orders.
Supervises on-site contractors as required and ensures departmental compliance with the Corporate Contractor Safety Program.
Inspects buildings to ensure all work is completed to quality standards and identifies and reports defects
Maintains an awareness and understanding of current and emerging building and system technologies and makes recommendations based on improvements required.
Assists with the design, planning, construction and acceptance of new Fire and Emergency Services facilities and station renovations.
Performs routine building repairs, minor construction projects and various building related maintenance and repair functions.
Performs maintenance, repair and testing of apparatus on-board 120/240-volt electrical generation and distribution systems, such that compliance with applicable standards is maintained.
Maintains high pressure breathing air compressors and systems in compliance with applicable standards.
Develops and administers annual facility repair and maintenance budgets.




Produces comprehensive reports and forecasts relating to all aspects of Fire and Emergency Services facilities management for the Division Chief.
Monitors, documents and maintains site logbooks, and maintenance and operations equipment needs.
Assists various Apparatus and Maintenance staff with various tasks as required and performs other similar and related duties as assigned.
SELECTION CRITERIA

Education:
Grade 12 education or equivalent secondary education as established by the Ontario Ministry of Education;

Experience:
5 years of industry related experience;

Mandatory Requirements:
Current Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Maintenance Electrician 309A (or approved equivalent);
Must possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary, Class "G" Ontario Drivers Licence;
Must be willing and able to obtain a Class "D" Ontario Drivers License with "Z" endorsement;
Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems, Building Automated Systems (BAS), Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) plumbing and basic carpentry or formal education;
Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Building Code;
Demonstrated organizational skills;
Demonstrated customer service and public relations skills;
Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal;
Demonstrated reliability;
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment;
Must be able to lift and stand for extended periods of time;
Ability to work from heights
Must be willing and able to wear all required uniform clothing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
Must be able to work shift work and variable hours, including holidays, evenings and weekends and after hours on-call when required;

Other Skills and Assets:
Current Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Licensed Industrial Millwright Mechanic (or approved equivalent)
Current Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (or approved equivalent)
Ontario Gas Fitters license
Working knowledge of Fire and Emergency Services functions.
