Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Vocal Coach to support the development and growth of children through engaging activities and mentorship. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young learners, fostering a positive environment, and promoting music education. This role involves guiding children in various activities, including one-on-one teaching, group coaching, and performance to help them reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Conduct private lessons tailored to each student's goals
- Diagnose vocal challenges and develop individualized improvement plans
- Prepare students for auditions, performances, and examinations
- Teach breath control, resonance, pitch accuracy, and stylistic interpretation
- Maintain accurate progress records and set achievable milestones
- Recommend repertoire appropriate to age, voice type, and musical interests
- Stay updated on vocal pedagogy and incorporate contemporary techniques
- Collaborate with directors and music staff to support vocal goals
- Coach individual cast members and ensembles on musical numbers
- Offer vocal warm-ups and cool-downs before/after rehearsals and performances
- Provide guidance on vocal characterization and stylistic authenticity
- Assist with challenging vocal passages and harmonies
- Monitor vocal health and troubleshoot issues during the rehearsal process
- Attend rehearsals as needed to give real-time feedback and adjustment
Skills
- Strong background in vocal performance and pedagogy
- Ability to work with beginners to advanced vocalists across genres
- Excellent communication, empathy, and motivational skills
- Knowledge of vocal anatomy and injury prevention
- Expertise in musical theatre styles and repertoire
- Experience working with performers of varying skill levels
- Ability to adapt coaching to dramatic context and performance demands
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with stage acoustics and mic technique is a plus
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
