Job Summary

The Hellenic Academy of York is seeking a passionate and dedicated Adult Greek Language Instructor to join our team. The successful candidate will play an important role in promoting and preserving the Greek language, heritage, and culture within our community while creating a positive and engaging learning environment for adult learners.

Key Responsibilities

● Plan and deliver engaging Greek language lessons for adult learners.

● Effectively manage and instruct multi-level classes, ensuring all learners are appropriately challenged and supported.

● Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom setting.

● Adapt teaching methods, resources, and assessments to accommodate diverse learning styles and proficiency levels.

● Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.

● Foster an appreciation for Greek language, culture, traditions, and heritage.

● Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the Academy's programs and initiatives.

● Participate in meetings, events, and community activities as required.

● Support the Academy's mission and values through professionalism, teamwork, and active engagement.

Qualifications/Experience Required

● Teaching qualifications in Education, Languages, or a related field.

● Adult Education certification/designation or demonstrated experience teaching adult learners.

● Excellent knowledge of the Greek language, culture, and heritage.

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

● Experience teaching and managing multi-level adult language classes.

● Commitment to inclusive teaching practices that support diverse learning styles and learner needs.

● Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.





● Flexibility and willingness to contribute beyond the classroom when needed.
