Clinical Group Facilitator (RCC)- Bipolar Support Group

We are seeking a clinical group facilitator to lead a weekly, in-person Bipolar Social Support Group offered at the Kelty Dennehy Mental Health Resource Centre. The group facilitator plays an important role in creating a psychologically safe, confidential, and welcoming space where participants with lived and living experience can share their stories and develop supportive relationships in a group setting. The successful candidate would lead weekly group sessions with a peer co-facilitator and collaborate with the program supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads weekly group meetings with peer co-facilitator
- Provides support and mentorship to peer facilitator
- Clearly States CMHA Community Standards and Group Guidelines
- Supports and engages group members in a non-judgmental and supportive manner
- Ensures a psychologically safe space for participants
- Maintains an up-to-date participant contact list
- Submits group attendance to program support lead
- Communicates any changes to programming or scheduling with participants
Skills and Abilities:
- Compassionate and non-judgmental approach to supporting people
- Solid communication skills including active listening
- Group facilitation
- Crisis intervention
- Conflict resolution
- Indigenous Cultural Competency
- Experience working with people living with Disabilities and/or multiple barriers including poverty, racism, trauma, non-dominant language, culture, sexuality or identified gender, and mental health or substance use challenges
- Respects and upholds the confidentiality of group participants
Qualifications:
- Masters in counselling,
and registration with BCACC
- Previous experience facilitating support and/or therapy groups
- Experience working with and/or supporting people with bipolar disorder/mood disorders
- Valid First Aid Level 1 and CPR
- Vulnerable Population Criminal Record Check
Hours of Work and Special Considerations:
Group session on Thursday 4-6pm at the Kelty Dennehy Mental Health Resource Centre + planning and administration time (up to 5 hours) per week. Starting range $33-35/hour based on experience.

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Experience:
- Supporting people with Bipolar: 2 years (required)
- social services: 1 year (preferred)
- Clinical Counselling: 1 year (preferred)
- Occupational Therapy: 1 year (preferred)
- facilitating support and/or therapy groups: 1 year (preferred)
