Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children? Our Early Support Program is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Casual/Relief Child Development Specialists (CDSs) to join our team!

As a CDS at SASS, you will provide direct support to children aged 2.8 to 6 years who have a diagnosis of autism, within our specialized preschool/kindergarten classrooms, children's home and in the community. The casual/relief CDS plays a key role in delivering individualized therapeutic support to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or related developmental needs. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the CDS implements individualized program plans in the classrooms, child’s home, and community environments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Child Safety & Environment

a) Ensure a safe and supportive environment for children at all times.

b) Provide personal care as needed (e.g., toileting, hygiene, bathing).

c) Transport children to and from outings as required, maintaining appropriate liability insurance.

2. Program Implementation & Support

a) Consistently follow individualized program plans and therapeutic strategies as developed by the clinical team.

b) Implement goals and support plans in home and community environments.

c) Prepare and organize programming materials to ensure efficient and effective sessions.

d) Maintain a program folder with up-to-date information for each assigned child.

e) Toy library organization and cleaning.

f) Supporting teachers to maintain the classroom environment (i.e., cleaning, organizing, prepping materials)

3. Collaboration & Communication

a) Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and child-specific reviews.

b)



Communicate regularly with team members and families regarding progress and program adjustments.

c) Accept and incorporate feedback from team members to optimize child outcomes.

4. Monitoring & Documentation

a) Collect, summarize, and evaluate data on each child's progress toward individualized goals.

b) Provide weekly objective assessments and recommend program adjustments when necessary.

c) Complete all required paperwork and documentation accurately and on time.

5. Organizational Alignment

a) Adhere to the Society for Autism Support and Services' philosophies, policies, and procedures.

b) In case of staffing emergencies in other programs (e.g., Out of Home Living Program), filling in and helping out, as required.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field or Diploma in a related field

· Previous experience in with young children or working with children with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.

Requirements:

- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
- Use of personal vehicle to transport children as necessary (one-million-dollar liability insurance required).
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C.
- Clear Police Check
- Clear Child Intervention Record Check
- Reliable Vehicle

Additional Notes:

· Flexibility in schedule and ability to work in various environments (classrooms, home, and community) is essential.

· This is a causal/relief position with hours scheduled based on the program’s needs.

· Must demonstrate a compassionate, respectful, and proactive approach to supporting children and families.
