Position Summary

The Buyer-Building Supplies, Plumbing, Heating, HVAC and Intercompany Procurement is responsible for managing purchasing, inventory control and supplier relationships across multiple store locations and intercompany divisions. This role ensures the timely availability of materials, cost-effective procurement and alignment with operational, project and customer needs, including building materials, plumbing and HVAC products.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management & Planning

- Maintain optimal inventory levels across all three store locations to support intercompany operations and retail customer demand
- Analyze sales trends and usage data to accurately forecast needs and plan purchases
- Monitor stock levels and adjust ordering strategies to ensure cost efficiency and product availability

Procurement & Ordering

- Manage day-to-day ordering of products for all intercompany divisions and ongoing projects
- Plan and coordinate annual sealift orders, including building materials, plumbing and HVAC supplies
- Process special order requests for individual customers across all store locations
- Create, manage and track purchase orders (POs), ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Develop and maintain shipping directives to support efficient logistics and delivery

Vendor & Supplier Management

- Source new suppliers and products as needed to meet business and customer requirements
- Negotiate pricing, terms and agreements to achieve the best value
- Build, maintain and strengthen long-term vendor relationships

Collaboration & Coordination

- Work closely with tradespeople and superintendents to ensure timely access to required parts and equipment




- Liaise with in-store personnel to fulfill customer product needs effectively
- Coordinate with intercompany divisions to align purchasing and inventory strategies

Financial & Administrative Support

- Assist the finance team with invoice-to-PO matching discrepancies and resolution
- Ensure procurement documentation is accurate and compliant with internal policies

Market Awareness

- Stay informed on industry trends, product innovations, and market pricing
- Continuously evaluate supplier performance and market conditions to support strategic purchasing decisions

Qualifications & Skills

- Postsecondary education in Purchasing, Business, Supply Chain or another related field
- Experience in inventory management, procurement, or supply chain operations particularly related to remote access communities and Sealift Logistics
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing role
- Knowledge of building materials, plumbing and HVAC products preferred
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret sales and inventory data
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management abilities
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Robust communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in purchase order systems and inventory management tools
- SAGE 300 experience would be considered an asset

Work Environment

- Multi-site role supporting three store locations and intercompany divisions
- Interaction with vendors, internal departments, and customers

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
