Canada
Operates all aspects of water treatment and distribution throughout the Village of Pemberton, including the maintenance and repair of water supply and distribution systems and the inspection and commissioning of current infrastructure. This role also involves administrative oversight of the water system, including data collection and analysis, sampling and reporting, and licensing, certificates and classification requirements.
Responsibilities:
Operates and maintains the following Village assets:
- Water pumping stations and treatment facilities
- Motors and pumps
- Chemical feeders
- Strainers and valves
- Mixers
- PRV stations
- Water reservoirs
Calibrates, tests, repairs, programs and overhauls chemical pumps, feeders, water quality testing equipment, valves, solenoids and auxiliary pumps
Administers and reviews water meter data, inspecting, repairing, or installing water meters and end point transmitters as required.
Monitors and analyzes Village water consumption and investigates discrepancies between water meters and process data.
Documents appropriate changes in plant processes to optimize performance and efficiency
Observes, interprets and records readings and indications of gauges, charts and meters to monitor plant status in relationship to flows, pressures, chemical feed rates, levels and water quality
Monitors raw well water, pumping rates, draw down and water quality parameters to ensure wells are performing as designed and within regulatory requirements
Collects field samples for analysis and performs laboratory tests for water quality control
Maintains all plant records including operational logs, laboratory results, research inventories, delivery records, lubrication and maintenance records, as well as computer entries and reports
Completes reservoir inspections, mixer checks, cleaning and disinfection of reservoirs
Provides technical support to electronic technicians and mechanics during major repairs and installations
Performs water distribution system cleaning to ensure environmental regulations are adhered to
Ensures all fire hydrants are inspected and documented in accordance with the BC Fire Code
Coordinates with Manager Utilities and Roads to organize water leak repairs and emergency repairs
Produce the Annual Water Report and liaise with Vancouver Coastal Health authority
Supports ice and snow removal operations throughout the Village during heavy snow events
Supports capital projects that impact the operations and/or maintenance of water infrastructure or operations
Performs other duties as assigned
Skills and Experience:
- Strong trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of the team
- Level II EOCP Water Treatment
- Level II EOCP Water Distribution
- Working knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems
- Knowledge of legislation related to drinking water and groundwater
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Confined space entry certification
- Class 5 BC Driver’s license and satisfactory driver abstract
- Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to perform heavy, manual, outdoor work
First Aid Requirement:
This position will require the role holder to obtain and maintain a basic first aid certification (formally OFA Level 1).
Emergency Operations:
Anyone actively employed by the Village of Pemberton may be required to assist the Village in providing emergency services. Duties assigned during an emergency may differ from regular duties.

This position is part of the Collective Agreement between the Village of Pemberton and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 2010.
