We're partnering with a well-established and rapidly growing transportation company to recruit a Director of Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE). This is a senior leadership position offering the opportunity to influence business strategy, lead enterprise-wide HSSE initiatives, and drive meaningful improvements across a complex operational network.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the executive leadership team, you'll be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the organization's Health, Safety, Security & Environmental strategy across multiple locations.

Working closely with operational leaders, you'll provide expert guidance on regulatory compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement while ensuring the business maintains the highest standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

- Develop and implement the company's long-term HSSE strategy.
- Partner with senior leadership to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
- Establish measurable KPIs and performance objectives that drive continuous improvement.
- Promote a positive, proactive safety culture throughout the business.

Compliance & Risk Management

- Ensure compliance with all applicable Canadian federal and provincial health, safety, environmental, and transportation legislation.
- Lead regulatory inspections, audits, investigations,



and corrective action plans.
- Oversee enterprise-wide risk assessments and emergency response planning.
- Ensure company policies remain aligned with changing legislation and industry best practices.

Operational Excellence

- Lead annual HSSE improvement initiatives across multiple operational sites.
- Reduce recordable injuries, lost-time incidents, environmental events, equipment damage, and insurance claims through data-driven decision making.
- Champion behavioural-based safety programs, hazard identification, near-miss reporting, and corrective action management.
- Monitor and analyse performance metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.

Leadership & Development

- Lead, coach, and develop the HSSE team.
- Build strong relationships with operational leaders and frontline employees.
- Influence stakeholders at every level of the organisation.
- Drive accountability while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

About You

We're looking for a confident and influential leader who can engage people at every level of the organisation and deliver lasting improvements.

You'll ideally have:

- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Health, Safety, Environment or HSSE.
- Previous experience operating at Director or Senior Manager level.
- A background within transportation, logistics, industrial manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, or another multi-site operational environment.




- Strong knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial Occupational Health & Safety and environmental legislation.
- A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional designation such as CRSP, CSP, NCSO, or a recognised environmental qualification (highly desirable).
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
- Strong analytical abilities with experience using performance data to improve business outcomes.

Pay: $120,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
