Contract Position | Primarily Weekends
Position Overview
Chilliwack Chance Society (COS) is seeking Respite Contractors to provide short-term, person-centred respite supports for individuals with developmental disabilities. This is an independent contractor role, not an employee position. Respite services may be provided in a COS facility or within the contractor’s personal home (if approved).
Respite scheduling and compensation vary depending on the individual being supported, with the majority of respite occurring on weekends.
Contractor Responsibilities
- Provide safe, respectful, and person-centred respite support
- Ensure the well-being, supervision, and comfort of the individual supported
- Supply all necessary items required during respite, including but not limited to:
- Food and beverages
- Personal care supplies (e.g., wipes, soap, toiletries)
- Activity materials as needed
- Maintain clear communication with COS regarding schedules, supports, and any concerns
- Follow all COS policies, procedures, and CLBC requirements while providing respite
Respite Location Options
Respite may occur:
- At a COS facility, or COS Respite house
- In the contractor’s personal home, provided the home meets COS and CLBC safety requirements, including: (An extra bedroom for respite use, & Successful completion of a Protected Home Study)
- Required safety equipment on site: (First aid kit, Fire extinguisher, & Minimum 72 hours of emergency supplies)
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid First Aid Level 1
- Completion of CLBC Privacy and Information Management Training
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Clean Driver’s Abstract
- Safe, reliable vehicle with $3 million third-party liability insurance
- Ability to meet all COS and CLBC contractor compliance requirements
Additional Information
- This position is a contractor relationship; contractors are responsible for their own supplies, expenses, and tax obligations
- Respite hours and rates vary based on the individual supported and service needs
- Successful applicants must pass all required screenings and approvals prior to providing respite
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $100.00-$200.00 per day
