Responsibilities

- Administer HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Manage employee relations by addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and facilitating communication between staff and management.
- Support change management initiatives by providing guidance and training to employees during transitions.
- Maintain employee records and HR databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.




- Collaborate with management on project management initiatives related to workforce planning and development.
- Recruitment - develop creative sourcing and recruitment strategies to identify a talent pipeline and proactively recruit and select talent for our manufacturing, head office and retail opportunities.
- Labour Relations – coach and counsel managers on the execution of effective management strategies that are aligned with the collective agreement, support and manage the grievance process with our unionized employees and our union partners.
- Employee Relations - act as a point of contact for employee queries on HR policies, benefits, career development and employee fair treatment
- Employee Engagement – developing employee engagement programs, coordinating training, workforce planning.
- Performance management – coaching and supporting managers on effective employee strategies and issue resolution. Working with the Senior HR Leader to develop a performance appraisal system, facilitating annual appraisals.
- Acting as an advisor – researching and providing information on HR best practices, new legislation and the evolving landscape of People and Culture issues
- Assist in the development and implementation of human resource policies and programs.
- A Brand Ambassador – actively promoting the company and its employment brand with both internal and external partners.
- Compile a variety of Human Resources statistical reports.
- Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee
- Ensure WorkSafe compliance with respect to work-related injuries and prepare all related correspondence.
- Administer the Safe Return to Work program (SRTW)
- In collaboration with the Safety Manager, develop and maintain programs to maximize safety and minimize WorkSafe related injuries with a strong focus towards cost savings measures.
- Administer and manage claims management program for WorkSafe, STD & LTD.
- Prepare company-wide communications, including a monthly newsletter.
- Handling grievances and complaint investigations.
- Finalize the Employee BHT Handbook. Update information in the shared drive to list all our polices. Sign off from all office employees BHT Handbook has been received and acknowledged.
- EMC – Create polices, forms, employee reviews,



and compensation analysis for all positions in 2026. Create employee EMC Handbook. Basically, mirror BHT and change the letterhead to EMC for the policies and forms.
- On-site at other locations for check-ins and HR presence. How are we doing? What areas need improvement?
- Compensation analysis for all non-union employees for 2027.
- Career development/compensation reviews – review roles that have this clause in their contracts.
- Prepare annual employee reviews and send them out to each manager.
- Support the implementation, testing, and rollout of new ADP modules.
- Other duties/projects as assigned.

Requirements

- 5 years of relevant Canadian experience developing your skills as an HR Generalist, with expertise in recruitment, labour relations and performance management.
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management or a related field is preferred.
- CPHR designation or working towards the designation is preferred.
- Proven experience in human resources roles with a strong understanding of HR best practices.
- 2 years experience in a unionized environment.
- Strong computer skills and must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Previous experience working ADP is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations practices and change management strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in project management principles to support various HR initiatives.
- Previous experience with payroll procedures, including timesheet review, wage calculations, deductions, benefits, and payroll reporting is preferred
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
