MG Automotive Group is seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to oversee the financial operations of Smiths Falls Hyundai.
This is a accounting and leadership position for someone who understands dealership accounting, financial controls, manufacturer reporting and month-end processes. The successful candidate will work closely with our senior Controller and dealership management to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls and timely financial information.
A CPA designation is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the accounting operations of multiple automotive dealerships
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and management reports
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
- Review dealership financial statements for accuracy and completeness
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts and manufacturer statements
- Monitor cash flow, working capital and dealership profitability
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
- Ensure accurate accounting for new and used vehicle inventory
- Review floorplan, vehicle receivables and inventory schedules
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll processes
- Review warranty receivables, rebates, incentives and manufacturer programs
- Monitor contracts in transit, funding delays and aged receivables
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
- Coordinate annual audit, tax and year-end requirements with external accountants
- Ensure compliance with CRA, HST, payroll and corporate reporting requirements
- Support dealership managers with departmental financial analysis
- Identify accounting errors, process weaknesses and areas for improved profitability
- Assist ownership with acquisitions, financing and special projects
- Lead, train and support dealership accounting staff
Qualifications
- CPA designation is strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting, finance or business
- Previous automotive dealership accounting experience is strongly preferred
- Experience as a dealership Controller, Assistant Controller or Senior Accountant
- Solid knowledge of dealership financial statements and accounting processes
- Experience with manufacturer reporting and dealership management systems
- Strong Excel and financial-analysis skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple dealership priorities
- High level of integrity, discretion and accountability

The right candidate is more than a bookkeeper. We are looking for someone who understands the dealership business, challenges numbers that do not make sense and provides management with clear, useful financial information.
You must be comfortable holding departments accountable, improving processes and ensuring that financial reporting is accurate and completed on time.
Pay: $55,614.55-$75,282.61 per year
