Groundskeeper – Engineering

Role Summary

Reporting to the Engineering Leadership Team, this position is responsible for maintaining the resort grounds, landscaping, and outdoor spaces to ensure a safe, welcoming, and visually exceptional environment for guests and associates. In accordance with JW Marriott brand standards and Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) service expectations, the Groundskeeper plays a key role in enhancing the overall guest experience by maintaining the natural beauty, cleanliness, and presentation of the property year-round.

Accountabilities

- Maintain lawns by mowing, edging, raking leaves, aerating, seeding, and performing other landscape maintenance functions in accordance with established standards
- Create memorable guest experiences by ensuring all outdoor spaces are clean, safe, well-maintained, and reflective of JW Marriott luxury resort standards
- Wash, clean, inspect, and refuel landscaping and grounds equipment after use, reporting maintenance concerns as needed
- Maintain flower beds, hanging baskets, planters, and landscape features by watering, weeding, trimming, pruning, fertilizing, and performing seasonal maintenance
- Remove and properly dispose of litter, debris, and waste from resort grounds, pathways, parking areas, and exterior waste receptacles
- Maintain the appearance and functionality of fountains, planters, signage, outdoor furniture, and other exterior features through cleaning, repairs, and preventative maintenance
- Maintain the appearance and safety of sidewalks, driveways, cart paths, trails, and parking lots by identifying hazards and performing minor repairs where appropriate
- Assist with seasonal property maintenance including planting, mulching, leaf removal, winter preparations, snow removal support, and spring clean-up activities
- Operate tractors, trucks, utility vehicles, and landscape equipment safely to transport equipment, materials, and supplies throughout the resort
- Monitor grounds for safety concerns,



environmental hazards, and maintenance deficiencies, reporting issues promptly to management
- Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a warm smile, eye contact, and a genuine verbal greeting, using the guest name whenever possible
- Respond professionally and courteously to guest inquiries regarding resort amenities, directions, and property features
- Support other Engineering and Resort Operations teams as required to ensure a seamless guest experience
- Maintain clean, organized, and secure work areas, storage locations, equipment sheds, and maintenance spaces
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of equipment, tools, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Report accidents, injuries, equipment malfunctions, and unsafe working conditions immediately to management

- Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks and ensure a clean and safe working environment through active participation in the health and safety program
- Adhere to all environmental policies and sustainability initiatives as required, including responsible use of water, fertilizers, fuels, and landscaping materials
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements

- Previous work experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, horticulture, property maintenance, or a related field considered an asset
- Knowledge of lawn care, landscape maintenance, and groundskeeping practices preferred
- Experience operating landscaping equipment, utility vehicles, and power tools considered an asset

Working Conditions

- Must be able to work in hot, humid, cold, and outdoor environments
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Required to move, lift, carry, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling
- Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces
- Move up and down ladders safely and efficiently
- Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces
