Responsibilities
- Prepare roofing surfaces by cleaning, patching, and leveling to ensure optimal installation conditions
- Measure and cut roofing materials accurately using hand tools and blueprint specifications
- Install roofing membranes, flashing, insulation, and other components following safety standards and project guidelines
- Perform repairs on existing flat roofs by replacing damaged materials and sealing leaks with caulking or other sealants
- Use hand tools such as hammers, saws, trowels, and pry bars efficiently and safely throughout each project
- Lift heavy roofing materials and equipment safely, adhering to proper lifting techniques to prevent injury
- Read blueprints and technical drawings to ensure precise installation according to design specifications
Requirements
- Proven construction experience with a focus on roofing or related trades
- Robust proficiency in using hand tools for cutting, fastening, sealing, and finishing work
- Knowledge of carpentry principles relevant to roofing projects
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings accurately
- Experience with caulking techniques for sealing joints and preventing leaks
- Physical strength and stamina for heavy lifting and working at heights in various weather conditions
- Handyman experience or general construction skills that support versatile project tasks is a plus
