Position

Community Outreach worker

Intern position 1 year contract we are hiring for our Our Kids Count Team

you must be a recent graduate in field indicated below and not worked in their related field of study. Only people meeting this requirement will be contact. must have a vehicle and drivers license.

Job summary
Our Kids Count empowers individuals to build stronger families and inclusive communities by enhancing people’s lives through personal growth and development.

As part of the OKC team working together with the Manager of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program to.

· accept and document application of potential volunteers and clients (including parent, guardian, child, youth, etc.)

· manage intake of children and volunteers including orientation, interviewing, screening etc.

· maintain case notes on all cases in accordance with the National Standards

· provide regular reports to BBBS Coordinator and Manager, or special reports as requested.

· maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency Privacy and Confidentiality Policy

· perform administrative functions as required to manage caseload.

· make referrals to other agencies as warranted.

· participate on committees as required.

· liaise with schools, other youth service agencies, other community groups, clubs or the public in general as required.

· assist with recreation events as required.





remain aware of federal and provincial privacy legislation and the agency’s privacy policies and practices

· promote the development of leadership and peer helper skills and provide the necessary support enabling peers to practice and carry out these new skills.

· be under the supervision of the BBBS Manager and BBBS Coordinator but will be expected to work independently with clear guidelines defining their role.

Education/ Experience
· Degree or diploma in health and welfare , social services, group facilitation, adult education, community development, Native Child and Family, Early Childhood Education

- · Must not have been employed in a job related to their education

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

· Must be able to work flexible hours

· Car and valid driver’s license 2 Million Liability

· Criminal Records Check Vulnerable Sector

Job Types: Full-time, Apprenticeship, Internship / Co-op
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
