Roots & Tales Clinic is a multidisciplinary child and family mental health and wellness centre serving children, youth, and families across Ontario. We provide evidence-based, compassionate, and individualized services that support emotional, behavioural, developmental, and learning needs.

Our collaborative team includes psychotherapists, Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs), ABA therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, educators, and other allied health professionals who work together to help children reach their full potential.

Position Overview

Roots & Tales Clinic is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated ABA Instructors / ABA Therapists to provide home-based ABA therapy for children and youth throughout Markham and Newmarket.

In this role, you will work one-to-one with children in their homes, implementing individualized treatment plans developed by a BCBA or Clinical Supervisor. You will support children in developing meaningful skills while working closely with families and the clinical team.

This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in children's lives and enjoy working in a collaborative, community-based environment.

Responsibilities

- Implement individualized ABA programs under the supervision of a BCBA or Clinical Supervisor.
- Deliver one-to-one ABA therapy sessions in clients' homes.
- Implement behaviour intervention plans with consistency and fidelity.
- Support the development of:
- Communication skills
- Social skills




- Emotional regulation
- Play and leisure skills
- Adaptive and daily living skills
- Functional independence
- Use evidence-based teaching strategies, including natural environment teaching and skill acquisition programs.
- Collect accurate behavioural and skill acquisition data during each session.
- Complete session notes and required clinical documentation in a timely manner.
- Prepare therapy materials before sessions.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and the clinical team to support treatment goals.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training as required.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice in accordance with clinic policies.

Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Behavioural Science, Child and Youth Care, Education, Autism and Behavioural Science, Social Work, or a related field.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience providing ABA services or working with children in behavioural, educational, or developmental settings preferred.
- Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, developmental disabilities, or behavioural challenges is considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge of ABA principles and behaviour intervention strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while following clinical direction.
- Professional, compassionate, and family-centred approach.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one).




- Valid CPR/First Aid certification is considered an asset.
- Access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout Markham and Newmarket for home-based sessions is preferred.

Availability

- Afternoon and evening availability is required.
- Weekend availability is considered an asset.
- Casual hours based on client referrals and therapist availability.
- Flexibility to travel to clients' homes within Markham and Newmarket.
