Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated full-time Housekeepers to provide essential presence to maintain a clean, safe, and homelike environment for our senior residents. This role combines commercial cleaning standards with compassionate, respectful daily interactions with the elderly. The ideal candidates for this position love working around seniors. They see their work not just as cleaning, but as a way to protect and comfort vulnerable people. They are patient, empathetic, and respectful of personal privacy and boundaries.

Duties

- Perform housekeeping tasks: including cleaning and laundry, to maintain a safe and comfortable environment
- Daily Tidying: Dust furniture, vacuum carpets, sweep, and mop hard floor surfaces inside the residents' private rooms.
- Sanitization: Clean and completely disinfect both private resident bathrooms and public bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, and grab bars, to reduce fall hazards and germ spread.
- Bed & Linen Care: Change bed linens, make beds according to facility standards, and stock rooms with clean towels.
- Waste Management: Empty garbage receptacles daily and safely dispose of trash.

Core Responsibilities

- Infection Prevention: Eliminate pathogens from residents' rooms, and common areas. Utilize specialized protocols, including proper cleaning equipment and techniques.
- Routine Sanitation: Clean, disinfect, and restock patient bathrooms, nursing units, and surgical units. Dust furniture, vacuum carpets, and sanitize high-touch surfaces.
- Waste & Linen Management: Empty and dispose of regular, hazardous, and biomedical waste. Collect soiled laundry and distribute clean linens.
- Equipment Maintenance:



Operate floor scrubbers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners safely. Keep assigned decentralized housekeeping closets clean and organized.
- Safety & Reporting: Handle chemical solvents and germicidal solutions following strict WHMIS/OSHA safety protocols. Report any immediate repair needs (leaky fixtures, broken hardware) to supervisors or the building manager.

Physical Requirements & Qualifications

- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, kneel, and walk for extended periods. Must be able to push and pull heavily loaded housekeeping carts.
- Environment: Exposure to dampness, soiled linens, human waste, and various cleaning chemicals.
- Education: A high school diploma (or G.E.D) is a standard baseline, though prior experience in a hospital or hospitality environment can often be substituted.
- Language: Functional spoken and written skills in English or French are required for safety communications.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a caregiving team
- A Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 6 months in good standing is required as a condition of employment.
- Must be reliable and committed to providing high-quality care and cleanliness
- Must provide two references when applying
