South Edmonton private company seeks an experienced Senior Accountant on a permanent full time basis. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, you will lead complex accounting processes, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and support strategic decision-making through thorough analysis and reporting. Who You Are:
- 5+ years of progressive full cycle accounting experience,
- Ideally within engineering, construction, or professional services
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Actively enrolled in the CPA PEP program with relevant experience would be an asset
- Robust knowledge of ASPE
- Proficiency with accounting software and experience with project management software
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with project-based accounting, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
- Ability to work on your own and in a team setting with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
The role:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE
- Manage full-cycle accounting including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Oversee project/job costing, WIP (work-in-progress) schedules, and revenue recognition for engineering projects
- Prepare and analyze budget-to-actual variance reports for project managers and leadership
- Ensure compliance with GST/HST filings, payroll remittances, and other statutory requirements
- Support external accountants
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and working capital management
- Mentor and provide guidance to other accounting staff
- Assist with year-end T4/T5 preparation and other regulatory filings specific to Alberta/Canada

Pay: $82,500.00-$92,500.00 per year
