Landscaping Rough Grade & Final Grading Specialist

Job Overview

TRIPOD LANDSCAPING LTD is seeking an experienced Rough Grade & Final Grading Specialist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing residential properties for landscaping by performing precise rough grading, final grading, soil preparation, and operating skid steers, mini skid steers, and grading equipment.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in producing clean, accurate grades that meet drainage requirements and provide a solid foundation for sod, patios, retaining walls, and other landscape installations.

Responsibilities

Site Preparation

- Perform rough grading and final grading for residential landscaping projects.
- Read and interpret grading plans and site layouts.
- Establish proper elevations and drainage slopes.
- Remove debris, excess soil, and prepare sites for landscaping.
- Ensure positive drainage away from foundations.

Equipment Operation

- Operate skid steers, mini track loaders, compactors, laser levels, and grading attachments safely and efficiently.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance requirements.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and proper fluid levels.

Soil Preparation

- Spread and level topsoil to required elevations.
- Prepare surfaces for sod installation, planting beds, and hardscape construction.
- Fine grade using equipment and hand tools for a smooth finished appearance.

Material Handling

- Load, unload, and transport soil, gravel, mulch, and other landscaping materials.
- Organize materials efficiently in office.
- Minimize material waste.

Quality Control





- Ensure grading meets project specifications and company quality standards.
- Verify proper drainage before project completion.
- Identify and correct grading issues before installation proceeds.

Safety

- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Complete daily pre-trip inspections and hazard assessments.
- Wear required PPE at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work site.

Teamwork

- Work closely with project managers, foremen, and landscaping crews.
- Assist other crews when grading work is complete.
- Communicate site issues and progress effectively.

General Duties

- Complete daily paperwork as required.
- Keep company vehicles, trailers, and equipment clean.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment.
- Perform other landscaping duties as assigned.

Experience

Required

- Minimum 2 years of experience in rough grading and final grading.
- Experience operating skid steers and mini track loaders.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong understanding of residential drainage and grading practices.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.

Preferred

- Experience with laser grading equipment.
- Experience operating excavators.
- Landscaping construction experience.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
