Job Summary

As a Controls Technician specializing in HVAC systems at Equans, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated control systems that regulate heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment. You will ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities include wiring and programming of control panels,



diagnosing system malfunctions, performing preventive maintenance, and collaborating with engineers and facility managers to optimize HVAC controls. The role requires strong technical skills in HVAC controls, familiarity with building automation systems (BAS), and an understanding of mechanical and electrical HVAC components.

Your work directly supports Equans’ commitment to operational excellence and sustainable building environments, contributing to the successful electrification and decarbonization projects that empower client transitions.

Scope of duties & Responsibilities

- Able to work up to 600V in relation to HVAC-R work with knowledge of Arc Flash requirements and safe working practices.
- Understanding of BACnet and IP networking with knowledge of structured cabling related to BICSI standards,
- Able to operate and make adjustments to Siemens BMCS with technical knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems in relation to chillers, boilers, air handling units, cooling towers and hydronic heating.
- High competency in troubleshooting issues identified in the BMCS.
- Experience in the maintenance and repair of building systems components such as VAVs, fan coils, VRFs, VFDs, lighting controllers and ancillary systems integration such as UPS, fire alarm systems and generators.
- Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts.
- Within the facility, escort visitors, contractors and other staff.
- Comply with the Company's Policies,



Management Plans and Procedures · Fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans,
- Support the Company's Quality Policy Statement and actively participate in the achievement of Company and personal Quality objectives,
- Undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the Department / Service,
- Extensive knowledge of material system, methods and equipment used in facility maintenance work,
- If physically capable, remove snow and ice from sidewalks when required to meet Project Agreement time requirements.

Requirements / Qualifications

- Is authorized to work in Canada and has been a resident for at least 5 years, secuirty clearance requirement.
- Certificate of qualification allowing work up to 600V in relation to HVAC-R work.
- 4th Class Power Engineer or 5th with Refrigeration endorsement (not required but prefered)
