Salary:

$50.07 – $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% on all regular earnings in lieu of advantages, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay day. Employees in this division have the opportunity to enroll in the College Pension Plan, with contributions matched by the Employer.

Description:

NLC requires one sessional online instructor to teach the section as indicated below – with course delivery taking place using MS Office Teams.

CRIM 230: Criminal Law - This course will introduce the student to the basic principles of Canadian criminal law, the concepts of actus reus, mens rea, regulatory offences, modes of participation in crime, inchoate crimes, mental disorder as a defense, and defenses to a criminal charge.

Qualifications:

Required:

- JD/LLB (or NCA certificate of qualification);
- Current or former membership in good standing with the Law Society of BC or another Canadian law society.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Committed to student motivation and success; and the
- Ability to collaborate as an effective team member.





Preference will be given to those who also have:

- LLM in a relevant specialization and/or criminal law practice experience (Crown, defense, or both)
- The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a readiness to pursue such a credential.
- Previous instructional experience in a post-secondary environment;
- Experience using learning management systems (LMS) and teaching through multiple delivery modalities, and
- Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.
