Hiring up to 13 Grader/Marker roles for 2000-level courses. COMP 2080 (0-1 Grader at 6 hrs/wk), COMP 2140 (0-5 Graders at 6 hrs/wk), COMP 2400 (0-2 Graders at 3 hrs/wk), COMP 2450 (0-5 Graders at 5 hrs/wk). __ Graders support by marking and providing feedback on a variety of course assessments. Graders may be required to attend meetings with the course instructor throughout the term. __ Contract period runs from the week before classes begin to the end of the first week in January. Actual expected grading work runs from the 3rd week of classes to the end of the exam period. Graders will have an in-person orientation in September and may be required to meet with the course instructor before classes begin. __ Good knowledge of 2000-level and 3000-level CS courses and programming languages is required. An A in the course or demonstrated subject expertise is preferred. __ *COMP 2450: Graders for this course must have taken this *exact* course before. Additionally, this course has regular grader meetings and frequent grading deadlines throughout the course.* __ Applicants could be hired for grading roles with multiple courses. Key responsibilities:

- Meets with the employment supervisor responsible for the course(s), for purpose of orientation and receiving guidelines for grading and marking assignments and for providing written feedback to the students.
- Grades and marks work submitted by students from tests, exams or projects.
- Provides written feedback to the students, on the quality of material presented for grading or marking.
- May be required to maintain regularly scheduled and posted times for providing consultation and a reasonable amount of informally scheduled consultation to students on test, exam or project results.
- May be required to assist in the production of tests, exams or projects under the supervision of the person responsible for the laboratory or class.

If you are an international student you must have a valid study permit which states that you are allowed to work on campus and you must be enrolled as a full time University of Manitoba student for the duration of any appointment.

Qualifications:

- Completion of academic studies which have resulted in an expertise specifically appropriate to grading or marking the material assigned.




- An empathetic approach to the instructional needs and concerns of students.
- Effective skills in the English language.

Preference may be given to applicants who are, or will be, a registered student studying in the Department which is posting
the employment opportunity at the time that the duties of the position commence.
