The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Manager and the Process Engineering Team Lead.

The person in this role will work closely with other disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation/Controls, Civil/Structural), procurement, project controls, and project management to help manage design responsibilities and to resolve design-related issues associated with the project.

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, completing and or checking the following:

· Equipment sizing;

· Preparing design calculations and design briefs for equipment;

· Hydraulic calculations;

· Heat and material balance preparation;





· Prepare equipment and instrumentation specifications and datasheets;

· Carry out technical evaluations and vendor documentation review;

· Prepare process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams;

· Participate in process safety engineering (relief load estimation, relief system design, and relief valve sizing and selection);

· Participate in HAZOPs and close out action items;

· Write detailed engineering reports, studies and briefs;

· Participate in field engineering assignments;

· Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure a timely and accurate flow of design information, while ensuring departmental and client standards are maintained;

· Develop and recommend improvements in design standards to lower costs, improve work quality and facilitate plant maintenance;

· Review and stamp PIDs, plot plans, other mechanical drawings where needed

· Review and stamp process calculations as described above

Requirements:

· Chemical engineering degree with 3+ years of EPCM experience;

· Registered as a P.Eng. or Professional Licensee with APEGA in the Province of Alberta;

· Experience in oil, gas, mechanical equipment (pumps, compressors etc..) or related fields is preferred;

Note:



Chemical Engineers in Training (EIT's) and Chemical Engineering Technologists (CET) will be considered with the appropriate EPCM experience

Additional Assets we are looking for in the successful candidate include:

1. Experience in O&G;/Chemical/Petrochemical industries

2. Experience analyzing outputs and running process software (HYSYS, VMG etc..) Metsim, ASPEN Knowledge of process safety methodologies: HAZOP, SIL, LOPA among others; Experience with Smartplant, AutoCAD or similar

3. Excellent written, spoken communication and presentation skills will be required

4. Experience working in project-based teams

5. Capable of working under tight deadlines while achieving objectives

6. Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to perform design engineering

7. Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately

8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

9. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

10. Self-starter with the ability to work independently when required; Strong experiences in interdisciplinary coordination

11. Ability to travel to vendor/construction sites

Job Type: Full time

Pay: $50.00-$75.00 per hour
