Legal Solutions & Partnerships Lead — Law Firms

Lextar AI Legal Solutions Inc.
Toronto, ON / Hybrid or Remote within Canada or US
Contract / Part-time to start, with potential to grow into a long-term leadership role

About Lextar AI

Lextar AI is a Toronto-based legal technology startup building governance-grade accountable AI for document-heavy, rules-heavy, and high-stakes legal and administrative workflows.

Our platform is designed around a reviewable chain:

documents and facts → supporting evidence → missing or conflicting information → governing law and authority → structured reasoning → human review and approval → defensible work product

We are now expanding from immigration and public-sector use cases into law-firm workflows.

We are looking for someone who understands how legal work is actually produced inside a mid-size or large law firm and can help us identify the right workflows to productize.

The Opportunity

This is not a conventional sales role.

The initial objective is to work with lawyers, practice groups, legal operations teams, knowledge-management professionals, and innovation leaders to identify repetitive, high-value legal workflows where Lextar’s reasoning engine can materially improve speed, consistency, traceability, and reviewability.

Examples may include:

- commercial litigation;
- arbitration;
- regulatory and investigations;
- immigration;
- employment;
- insurance;
- construction disputes;
- document-heavy advisory matters;
- evidence and record review;
- legal memorandum preparation;
- issue and authority mapping.

The successful candidate will help turn real law-firm problems into repeatable product workflows rather than one-off custom software projects.

What You Will Do

You will:

- Interview lawyers and legal professionals to understand how matters are currently handled from intake through final work product.
- Map high-friction workflows involving documents, evidence, fact development, legal issues, authorities, review, and drafting.
- Identify workflows that are sufficiently repetitive and commercially valuable to productize.
- Recruit law firms and practice groups as design partners and pilot users.
- Work closely with Lextar’s founder and technical lead to translate legal workflows into product requirements.
- Help define pilot scope, user journeys, success criteria, and pricing.
- Present Lextar’s capabilities to law-firm stakeholders in practical, non-technical terms.
- Develop relationships with legal operations, innovation,

knowledge-management, and practice-group leaders.
- Help secure paid pilots and early law-firm customers.
- Provide structured market feedback to guide Lextar’s product roadmap.
- Support partnership development with legal organizations and professional networks.

What We Are Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

- law-firm innovation / KM / legal operations;
- senior law-firm business development people who genuinely understand practice workflows;
- former judicial law clerks;
- court or tribunal administrative/case-management professionals;
- tribunal counsel/legal officers;
- claims counsel and claims managers;
- professional-liability or qualified-defence personnel;
- grievance/arbitration officers;
- union legal staff;
- regulator/College investigators or legal staff;
- professional-association legal/risk personnel;
- experienced lawyers who have moved into innovation/product/business roles.

You should understand how law firms make decisions, how partners evaluate new technology, and where workflow inefficiencies actually occur.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate can sit with a litigation or advisory team and ask questions such as:

- Where does the matter slow down?
- What work do associates or paralegals repeatedly perform?
- Which facts are hardest to verify?
- Where do inconsistencies or missing evidence create risk?
- Which work product requires the most partner review?
- What would make lawyers trust an AI-assisted workflow?
- Which parts of the process can be standardized across matters?

You should be comfortable moving between legal, product, and commercial discussions.

Qualifications

Preferred:

- 5+ years of relevant law-firm, legal-services, legal-operations, innovation, or business-development experience;
- experience working with mid-size or large law firms, courts, tribunals, arbitration institutions or other regulatory organizations;
- strong understanding of legal workflows and professional-services buying behaviour;
- excellent communication and relationship-building skills;

- ability to conduct structured customer discovery;
- ability to translate workflow problems into product requirements;
- comfort discussing AI and legal technology with lawyers and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience with enterprise legal technology, AI, document review, litigation support, knowledge systems, or workflow automation is an asset.

Initial 8–12 Week Objectives

The initial engagement will focus on market and workflow validation.

Indicative objectives include:

- conduct approximately 15–20 meaningful interviews with lawyers, legal-operations professionals, or law-firm decision-makers;
- deeply map at least three recurring law-firm workflows;
- identify one or two high-priority workflows suitable for a standardized Lextar solution;
- recruit 2–3 potential design partners;
- help define one law-firm pilot with clear success criteria;
- support preparation of at least one serious paid-pilot proposal.

The priority is validated workflow and design partners first, revenue second.

Compensation

Lextar is an early-stage, pre-revenue company.

The initial arrangement may include:

- milestone-based cash or deferred compensation;
- commission on qualifying private-sector law-firm revenue personally originated by the candidate;
- potential stock options for sustained and meaningful long-term contribution;
- opportunity to grow into a senior product, partnerships, or go-to-market leadership role.

Exact terms will depend on experience, availability, scope, and contribution.

Why Join Lextar

This role offers the opportunity to help shape a new category of legal AI.

Most legal AI focuses on speed, drafting, or search. Lextar is focused on accountable reasoning: making legal work not only productive, but also explainable, reviewable, source-linked, and defensible.

You would have a direct role in deciding which law-firm workflows should be built next and how the product should be positioned for real legal practice.

How to Apply

Please include:

- your résumé;
- a brief description of your experience working with or inside law firms;
- examples of legal, innovation, marketing, operations, or technology projects you have led;
- and a short note describing one law-firm workflow you believe is particularly suitable for AI-assisted reasoning and why.

We value practical judgment, legal-industry understanding, and the ability to turn real workflow pain into product opportunity.

Pay: $80,000.00-$200,000.00 per year
