Community Support Worker - Casual

Pay rate: $27.53 per hour
Position Type: Casual
Hours: 9AM - 4PM (Monday - Friday)- must be available at least 3 days/week
Location: Port Moody, Port Coquitlam & Pitt Meadows - In Person
Required: Class 5 BC Driver's license, Reliable Vehicle

About the Position
The Community Support Worker provides vital support to individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting independence and inclusion within the community. This role involves assisting with daily living skills, engaging in recreational activities, and encouraging participation in social and vocational programs. A key component of the position is supporting individuals in their physical, social, emotional, educational, and recreational development—including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) strategies.

Responsibilities

- Supporting individuals to find and retain paid employment
- Teaching life skills aligned with personal and employment goals
- Supporting individuals to run their own social enterprises
- Supporting and encouraging independence and self-determination
- Recreational and leisure activities such as swimming, hiking and many more
- Facilitating community inclusion and relationship building
- Teaching and facilitating effective communication

About You

- Passion for working with people and positive attitude
- Experience with behavioural support or behaviour intervention an asset
- Class 5 BC driver's license (required)
- Reliable car (w/ business insurance)
- First Aid and CPR certificate




- Some education and/ or experience working with people who have developmental disabilities
- Comfortable providing personal care
- Comfortable supporting in a swimming pool
- Able to push and assist individuals who use wheelchairs on flat surfaces and on inclines
- Able to respond quickly if an individual attempts to leave a safe area
