Shipper/Receiver – Job Responsibilities
Position Summary
The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for the accurate receiving, inspection, organization, and distribution of all incoming and outgoing merchandise. This position helps maintain inventory accuracy, supports all departments, and ensures products are available for customers and staff in a safe and efficient manner.
Primary Responsibilities
Receiving
● Receive all incoming shipments from suppliers.
● Verify shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
● Inspect products for damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
● Report damaged or incorrect merchandise promptly.
Inventory Control
● Label, tag, and organize incoming merchandise.
● Assist with cycle counts and annual inventory.
● Investigate and report inventory discrepancies.
● Ensure stock is rotated where applicable.
Warehouse Organization
● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
● Store merchandise in designated locations.
● Keep aisles clear and ensure safe access to inventory.
● Dispose of packaging materials and recycling appropriately.
Shipping
● Prepare customer and vendor shipments.
● Package products securely to prevent damage.
● Complete shipping documentation.
● Coordinate freight pickups and deliveries with carriers.
● Ensure outgoing shipments are accurate and complete.
Internal Support
● Distribute received merchandise to the appropriate departments.
● Communicate backorders or receiving issues to purchasing and sales staff.
● Assist yard and store staff during busy periods.
● Help locate inventory for customer orders.
Equipment Operation
● Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
● Perform daily equipment inspections.




● Report maintenance issues immediately.
Safety
● Follow all workplace health and safety policies.
● Wear required personal protective equipment.
● Use safe lifting techniques.
● Maintain a hazard-free receiving area.
● Report accidents, hazards, or near misses promptly.
Customer Service
● Assist customers with product pickups when required.
● Maintain a professional and courteous attitude.
● Help load customer vehicles safely.
Daily Expectations
● Receive shipments promptly upon arrival.
● Complete all receiving paperwork before the end of each shift whenever possible.
● Keep the warehouse and receiving area clean and organized.
● Communicate any issues with suppliers, freight companies, or inventory immediately.
● Work efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
Qualifications
● Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and heavier items with assistance or equipment.
● Strong attention to detail.
● Good organizational and time-management skills.
● Basic computer skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Performance Standards
Success in this role will be measured by:
● Accurate receiving with minimal errors.
● Timely processing of incoming shipments.
● Inventory accuracy.
● Clean and organized warehouse and receiving areas.
● Secure work practices.
● Positive teamwork and communication.
● Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Pay: $18.00-$23.00 per hour
