Job Title: Contract Conformance Specialist IV
Location: Edmonton, AB
Schedule: Hybrid
Our client is seeking a Contract Conformance Specialist IV to provide senior-level support for supplier contracting activities, including contract drafting, negotiation, review, and execution readiness. This role works closely with supply chain, legal, business stakeholders, and suppliers to deliver consistent, compliant, and risk-informed contracting outcomes.
What's the Job?
- Independently draft, review, revise, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including EPC agreements, services agreements, and supplier paper agreements.
- Review supplier redlines and prepare practical, risk-informed responses using approved templates, alternate clauses, and established precedents.
- Facilitate negotiations with suppliers within approved risk parameters and escalate non-standard or high-risk issues as required.
- Advise stakeholders on appropriate contract selection based on business requirements, risk profile, scope, and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with buyers, category managers, contract owners, legal, risk, insurance, safety, tax, and other stakeholders to resolve contractual issues.
- Gather and validate information required to support accurate contract drafting and negotiation activities.
- Maintain detailed documentation of negotiations, approvals, legal guidance, and business decisions to support compliance and audit requirements.
- Create and maintain contract records within Oracle and other designated systems, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements,
contract playbooks, alternate clause libraries, and master agreement strategies.
- Support the consistent application of approved contract language, governance requirements, policies, and best practices.
What's Needed?
- University degree, paralegal diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, contract management, commercial contracting, legal operations, or in-house paralegal roles.
- Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex supplier agreements.
- Strong understanding of contract terms including indemnity, limitation of liability, insurance, warranties, confidentiality, assignment, termination, payment, and scope requirements.
- Ability to assess risk, interpret business needs, and recommend appropriate contracting approaches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain contractual concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, Adobe/e-signature platforms,
Oracle, and other contract management systems.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications in contract management, procurement, supply chain management, paralegal studies, or commercial contracting.
- Experience with energy infrastructure contracting, joint ventures, supplier onboarding, master agreements, contract playbooks, and negotiation trend analysis.
- Experience supporting process improvement initiatives within contracting or procurement environments.
