Pipeline Engineer (Intermediate) Full-Time Contract located in Calgary, AB

As a member of a project team, the Pipeline Engineer supports the design of transmission pipelines and related facilities from conceptual design to final design phase, and when required, construction support. The Pipeline Engineer will support the Project Engineer and Project Manager in meeting technical deliverables related to detailed pipeline design and specifications.

This position is in based in Calgary, Alberta and requires a minimum office presence of four days per week Monday to Thursday.

Key Responsibilities include:

· Supports the Project Manager and Pipeline Engineers during proposal development, FEED and detailed design stages for transmission and gathering system projects.

· May lead the design team for cutting-edge and concise pipeline system design. This may involve multifaceted aspects of pipeline design including hydraulics, routing, material selection, stress considerations, appurtenances, as well as consideration for constructability, integrity, and maintenance.

· Ensures the accuracy and completeness of technical data including resource information, calculations and code interpretation for pipe, valves, fittings, coatings, C.P., crossings, bending, and ILI facilities.

· Coordinates third party engineering teams to obtain specialist design input.

· Participates in the development of project organization and work breakdown structures.

· Applies good project management practices within interdisciplinary functions (drafting, GIS, consultants).

· Supports local project teams as well as those assigned to field positions.

· Provides support for cost reports detailing budgets, approved changes, commitments and forecasts from available information and historical trends.

· Supports Senior Engineers by preparing and maintaining the design control system for assigned projects, including PEP and DBM.





· Assists Senior Engineers in the preparation of Crossing drawings and Construction Alignment Sheets.

· Identifies opportunities to improve project management process, tools and specifications, and supports the implementation of new technologies.

· Applies the tools, processes, and practices to ensure project quality.

· Supports procurement by participating in bid evaluations and prepares vendor recommendations for the client.

Qualifications and Attributes:

· B. Sc. in Engineering, preferably mechanical or civil discipline.

· Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with APEGA and/or EGBC.

· Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Professional Engineer, with a minimum of five (5) year of overall pipeline engineering experience.

· Demonstrated experience and thorough knowledge of pipeline design, high pressure oil and gas transmission pipelines.

· Thorough knowledge of CSA pipeline codes.

· Experience supporting material requisitions and procurement activities is an asset.

· Demonstrated analytical ability, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

· Experience with summarizing technical results and preparing management reports.

· Demonstrated ability to identify issues, evaluate alternative and develop practical solutions;

· Experience in a EPCM environment is considered an asset;

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high performing project team.

· Demonstrated ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments.

This position will be based in Calgary, AB and may require occasional travel to project sites in Alberta and British Columbia.
