Duties

- Plan nutritional balanced meals according to Canada’s food guide, requirements for food allergies and food related problems for children
- Prepare, serve and cook breakfast, lunch and two snacks daily, and for program excursions, events and activities
- Ensure all food is stocked and well maintained
- Maintain and monitor all cookware and kitchen appliances
- Clean up after meals, following all sanitizing regulations for the kitchen area
- Develop and maintain a cooperative relationship with other staff, parents and children
- Maintain a friendly atmosphere for the children, parents and staff
- Assist the other cooks as needed and other duties as assigned
- Abide by the Ochapowace First Nation Employee Policy Manual

Skills





- Proven experience in food service or restaurant environments with a focus on food preparation and cooking
- Strong knowledge of food handling procedures and safety standards within the food industry
- Excellent serving skills with a friendly attitude towards customers
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Familiarity with meal preparation techniques and kitchen equipment operation
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members
- Enthusiasm for learning new culinary skills and advancing within the food service sector
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent would be an asset
- Related experience or a cooking certificate in the area would be an asset
- Safe food handling certificate and First Aide, CPR
- Reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license would be an asset
- Understanding of Canada’s Food Guide
- Must be friendly, dependable and possess a professional demeanor

Must be flexible and able to work well independently and with a team

Knowledge about Ochapowace First Nation, and First Nation culture and traditions

Pay: $15.35-$27.81 per hour

Work Location: In person
