The Heavy-Duty Truck & Trailer Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing trucks and trailers as well as forklifts and loaders at the shop in Grosse Isle, Manitoba
Responsibilities and Duties
-Maintain, lubricate and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems on semi tractors, trailers, forklifts and loaders
-completing major and minor repairs to trucks and trailers
-test components for repair effectiveness and general fitness
-complete maintenance and service of trucks and trailers according to manufacturers recommended schedule or as necessary
-general shop duties
-interpret work orders, technical manuals, inspection and repair reports
-diagnose faults or malfunctions
-adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems
-test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work done meets manufacturers' specifications and legislated regulations
-write service reports
Qualifications and Requirements
Understanding of maintenance, repair and service requirements of trucks and trailers:
Mechanic with experience in heavy trucks, in shop or field
Red Seal Certified Heavy Duty Mechanics (not required), experience in shop or field
Experience required: 3 years minimum
Transportation to and from work and a valid class 5 driver’s license
A valid Class 1 or 3 with Air would be an advantage
Ability to lift/push/pull a minimum of fifty pounds
Knowledge of Peterbilt, Kenworth and Western Star
Ability to learn recent processes
Ability to provide great attention to detail and meticulous care in accomplishing tasks
Ability to work indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions with tolerance to fumes and odours
Willingness to do some evening and weekend work
Ability to take direction and work with moderate supervision
Incumbents must provide and maintain their own hand tools
