We are seeking a detail-oriented, client-focused Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting team in Oakville. In this role, you will deliver full-cycle accounting, ASPE financial reporting, and complex tax compliance for a diverse client base of high-net-worth individuals, small-to-medium enterprises, and private corporations.

As a primary liaison for our clients and tax authorities, fluency in both English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) is required to support our international and multi-lingual client portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting (ASPE)

- Prepare and review compilation engagements (Notice to Reader) and financial statements in accordance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
- Prepare complex working paper files, year-end adjustments, and trial balance reconciliations.
- Oversee full-cycle bookkeeping processes and ensure client ledger integrity.

Tax Compliance (Corporate, Personal & Trust)

- Prepare and review Canadian tax returns, including Corporate (T2), Individual (T1), and Trust (T3) compliance filings.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and assist with estate/trust tax filings and corporate reorganizations where applicable.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Income Tax Act and Canadian tax legislative updates.

CRA Representation & Audit Defence

- Serve as the main point of contact for the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
- Efficiently handle, respond to, and resolve CRA requests, pre- and post-assessment reviews, information inquiries, and audits.
- Submit formal notices of objection, election forms, and administrative relief filings when required.

Client Relationship Management & Communication

- Act as a trusted financial advisor to owner-managed businesses and individual clients.
- Lead client meetings and communicate complex tax/accounting guidance clearly in both English and Chinese.




- Onboard new clients, assess bookkeeping workflows, and advise on optimal accounting structures.

Software & Systems Management

- Maintain full proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop.
- Utilize public accounting tax and file software (e.g., Taxprep, CaseWare/Jazzit).

Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration or an equivalent degree in accounting or finance from an accredited institution.

Designation: CPA designation (or candidate near completion/enrolled in PEP) preferred.

Experience: 3 to 5+ years of relevant experience in a Canadian public accounting firm.

Language Skills: Professional fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) in both written and spoken communication.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong analytical thinking, excellent problem-solving ability, and a dedicated focus on client service.

Technical Skills:

- In-depth practical knowledge of ASPE and Canadian corporate, personal, and trust tax principles.
- Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks (QBO/Desktop).
- Familiarity with public accounting software suite (CaseWare, Taxprep, Profile, or equivalent tools).
