3 Step Recruitment

Newmarket

Build the Estimate. Run the Project. See the Results.

This established and growing GTA mechanical contractor specializes in complex HVAC and mechanical retrofit projects within occupied commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings.

Projects involve a wide range of mechanical systems, including chillers, boilers, make-up air units, cooling towers, pumps, heat pumps, plumbing systems, piping, ductwork, controls, and fan coil risers. The company has built its reputation over more than 30 years by delivering technically challenging work safely, efficiently, and with a high standard of workmanship.

This is not a narrowly defined estimating job or a position where projects disappear after the bid is submitted. You will have the opportunity to understand the work, help win it, and remain involved through construction and closeout.

A Role That Can Grow With You

The position can be shaped around your level of experience.

You may already be an experienced Estimator / Project Manager who can independently take a project from tender through completion. You may be an HVAC Estimator ready to gain more exposure to project delivery. You may also be a Mechanical Project Coordinator, Assistant Project Manager, or Mechanical Engineer looking to build stronger estimating capabilities.

Experienced candidates will receive considerable independence and responsibility. Developing candidates will receive mentorship and progressively take ownership of larger estimates and projects.

The common requirement is a strong mechanical foundation, sound judgment, and a genuine interest in learning both sides of the business.

What You Will Do

You will participate in the full lifecycle of mechanical retrofit projects, from the initial site visit and estimate through contract award, construction, commissioning, and closeout.

Depending on your experience, you will:

- Review drawings, specifications, site conditions, and project requirements.
- Complete material takeoffs, labour calculations,

and project cost analyses.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Prepare or support bids, tenders, proposals, and pricing strategies.
- Participate in negotiations and project award discussions.
- Turn successful estimates into practical execution plans.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, field teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Purchase equipment and materials while managing lead times and delivery schedules.
- Monitor project costs, labour, progress, schedule, and profitability.
- Identify risks early and resolve issues before they affect delivery.
- Prepare and manage change orders, project documentation, reporting, and closeout.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes.

What We Are Looking For

We are interested in candidates with experience in HVAC, mechanical construction, mechanical estimating, project coordination, project management, or mechanical engineering.

You do not need to check every box. Relevant experience may include:

- HVAC or mechanical construction.
- Mechanical estimating, takeoffs, pricing, bids, or tenders.
- Project coordination or project management.
- Boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, make-up air units, heat pumps, fan coils, plumbing, piping, ductwork, or controls.
- Mechanical retrofit work in occupied buildings.
- Scheduling,

procurement, budgeting, cost control, change orders, or subcontractor coordination.
- Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Mechanical Engineering or related technical education.

You should also bring strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to manage several priorities at once.

A valid driver’s licence and the ability to visit project sites throughout the GTA are required.

Why Join?

- Salary up to $130,000, depending on experience.
- Company vehicle and gas card.
- 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision benefits.
- Company-paid RRSP contributions.
