Position: Registered Nurse - ONA

Hours of Work: Temporary Full Time Approx until February 2027

Location: WRHN @ Midtown (formerly Grand River Hospital, KW Campus)

Position Summary :

Offering person-centred care, guided by recovery principles, the Registered Nurse promotes healing and instills hope while demonstrating the values of the Mental Health and Addictions Program. Specialized Mental Health is a 38-bed inpatient program offering exciting opportunities to registered nurses interested in starting or developing a career in Mental Health. Full paid orientation is provided & educational support is available.

The Registered Nurse provides psychiatric and mental health nursing care working within an interdisciplinary team with individuals experiencing psychiatric and mental health issues. The patient population includes those with a severe and persistent mental illness and those who are experiencing a psychosocial crisis.

This position will require commitment each month to completing the Residents Assessment Instrument ( RAI ) Corrections .



Nursing care is provided in accordance with the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (CNA). Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Nurses may be reassigned to other mental health units as per the Collective Agreement

Position Requirements:

- Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Experience with patient monitoring and recovering moderately sedated patients within the past five (5) years required
- Experience with central lines, PICCs and ports within the last five (5) years required
- Experience with preparing patients for procedures/surgeries preferred
- Demonstrated assessment skills
- Proven ability to work autonomously
- Recent critical care experience preferred
- Command of the sterile field preferred
- Experience with preparing procedure trays an asset
- Previous experience in invasive radiological nursing including angiography required.
- Experience working with adult and pediatric oncology and renal patient populations preferred
- ACLS certification required
- Must be willing to work flexible schedule
- Demonstrated experience working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational skills
Good attendance record
